Do-At-Home Art Activities for Kids
Homemade Gluten-Free Play Dough

Are you a bit concerned about your child’s pencil (tripod) grip?
Each child develops at their own time but you can help them develop their fine motor skills. The muscles on their fingers and hands can be strengthened through fun art and craft exercises.
Play dough is always popular with kids and terrific in developing their finger muscles.
Here’s a super easy, 4 ingredient gluten-free recipe you can make at home. It’s softer than commercial play dough and perfect for small fingers.
– 1 cup sodium bicarbonate (baking soda)
– 1/2 cup cornflour (cornstarch)
– 3/4 cup water
– food colour
Mix the sodium bicarbonate, cornflour and water together. Heat over medium fire stirring to remove all lumps.
Add food colour. Stir until clumpy – 5 mins or so.
It will look funny but that’s ok. Remove from heat and let it cool a few minutes before touching. Knead it until smooth. That’s it!
*This recipe is for 1 colour, equivalent to 2 containers of store bought play dough.
Keep in a tightly sealed plastic bag inside the refrigerator when not in use. It lasts months! If it hardens, add a tablespoon of water and heat it up. It will be as good as new!
